15.11.2007 Claros inTouch 2.2Beta Installer Is Ready!
Many users complained that installing Claros inTouch is sometimes too tricky and complicated. We've been working on a Java based setup application for some time and it is released today with the latest development release (2.2 Beta) bundled in. This is a all in one installer which has Apache Tomcat, H2 Database Engine and inTouch. You'll be running the application in less than a minute on any operating system which supports the Java Runtime. (Run: java -jar install.jar) You can download the installer from this link. We are introducing the long waited version for inTouch including new modules (calendar and webdisk) and support for Secure Protocols as a public beta release. We've now added a new Product Branch as Claros inTouch Devel under the Products section and latest updates for the inTouch product will be available there until the new stable release is announced. Tracking and managing the issues and bugs that emerge during a project is a critically important task. We have introduced a new issue tracking system built upon the Open Source License of Jira from Atlassian. We kindly encourage users to submit their feature requests and bug reports using the issue tracking system. You see the support section for more details. 01.09.2007 Claros inTouch at Open Trusted ConsortiumThe Open Trusted Computing (OpenTC) consortium is a Research & Development project focusing on the development of trusted and secure computing systems based on open source software. The project targets traditional computer platforms as well as embedded systems such as mobile phones. Tubitak, which a govermental research organization in Turkey and a partner of OpenTC, is working on Claros inTouch as the primary web based mail client for the next generation trusted computing. After a year of hard-work, Claros inTouch 2.0(Ajax Version) is finally ready for the enterprise. The new look and feel of the full featured new communication suite called inTouch includes everything you need to get most from a e-mail and an IM client. The modules enabled in this release are: web-mail, contacts, post-it notes, instant messenger(chat), rss reader and much more... This is an installation with over 500.000 users, which proves the stability and Claros inTouch's readiness for the enterprise. We are currently working hard on the next version, which is almost a complete rewrite of all the user interface and the underlying architecture. The new version is a framework including an API which enables developers to design own widgets, tabs and perspectives with a simple architecture model. We'll also be offering a registry of widgets such as Shared Calendar, Google Map, Webmail, post it notes, instant messaging, etc. By installing 3.0 you'll have the opportunity to design what your installation needs to offer for your users or add your own custom built widgets. This does not mean that we'll discontinue development of Claros inTouch 2.2 branch - this version will have updates for continuing bug fixing process, however our main focus will be on 3.0 branch because of the major extensions and development to underlying framework concept. As you can imagine, this is a very new and challenging concept which is not previously introduced by another open source project, so we are working very hard to present you a perfect development environment both on technical and management side with the help of a fully functional SVN access and a collaborative environment for interested volunteers. I just had a play with the Claros inTouch demo, and other than the fact that my server isn't really set up to run Java pages it looks superb! - Keep up the great work. If I can get a copy working, I'll most definitely be switching to it!
